Thanks for the question. It’s a little difficult for us to answer because we’re a Canadian organization based in Montreal (Quebec) but I did my little researches for you.

I don’t know from which part of Louisiana you’re from but you have for instance the Lambda Group in Baton Rouge. This group has a 24 hour hotline and a Youth Empowerment Project for young people between 13-20 years old. The Lambda Group organises meetings every month and holds activities on a regular basis. They have a web site: http://www.lambdabr.org/. The infos on the website are not really up-to-date though, it was last updated in 2004.

In New Orleans, you have the Lesbian and Gay Community Center who’s also the center for The Louisiana Hate Crimes Prevention Project. Communities center are often good places to find information on how to meet people and to find community groups you can get involved in your area. Here’s the phone number and address:
