A colorful summer!

Team AlterHeros has been very active this summer at Pride events in many parts of Canada. In order to make our Internet portal more known to our English clientele, we took part for the first time in the festivities of Pride Toronto and Pride Ottawa, on top of our annual participation in Divers/Cité in Montreal. Here an overview of our summer activities in text and photos!

Pride Toronto: a colorful festival!
The Pride Toronto week, which takes place the last week of June of each year for 25 years, is the greatest event of its kind in Canada and among the greatest Pride events in the world. This event attracts nearly a million people and contributes significantly to the economics and health of the GTO. Many activities take place during the festival.

Team AlterHeros took part this year for the first time in the Community day, also called "The Community Fair". It was a fun opportunity to present our resource and to meet our visitors of the Toronto area.

Montréal Divers/Cité: youth groups get organized!
Several changes were implemented in this year edition of Montreal Divers/Cité Pride, with its famous parade moved from Sunday afternoon to Monday evening. This important change did not prevent the youth groups, like last year, to gather on the same contingent. Once more, this year, the QAQY, the Quebec Alliance for Queer Youth, took charge of the preparation and the organization of youth events. Initially, a large allegorical float, all colors and lights, reserved for young people was built. Guys were in pink, girls in blue and the trans in violet. The float surely got the public and media attention! Nearly 45 people took part in the youth contingent, coming from nine different organizations: ALBIG, Alternative ( University of Montreal), REDS-UQAM, the GLAM, le Placard, Project ACE, Project 10, AlterHéros and Jeunesse Lambda.

The 2005 theme, "all young people, all different", had a very particular significance: not only young queers have differences with young heterosexuals, and they are proud, but each young queer person is unique and different from the other queers, with its own tastes and its own personality.

To end the week of the festivities, several youth organizations were also gathered for Community Day. Games and activities were organized to entertain visitors. It was the first time that youth groups were gathered at the same place, "La Zone des jeunes allosexuels” (Youth Queer Zone) to celebrate their pride and to promote their services.

Pride Ottawa: a festival to be known!
In order to make AlterHeroes.com more known to our English public, our team also took part in Pride Ottawa which took place on August 28 th in the national capital. Although Pride Ottawa is a festival smaller than that of Montreal and Toronto, it is not at the very least festive and fun! Many activities take place during this week. The festival culminates Sunday with a parade, a Community fair, music, dance and many activities. This year, our team took part in the Community fair on a beautiful day where we were pleased to hold information kiosk and to take part in some activities presented.
