I am in love with a friend and I don't know what to do?

I’m a 15-year-old girl and for three years I’ve been completely in love with my best friend, who’s female. We’ve been best friends since we were six and we have a really, really close bond, we’re absolutely inseparable. A couple of my friends have told me we’d make a really good couple, but I’m not sure if they’re joking or serious. I haven’t told anyone how I feel about her, but it’s getting hard to hold it in. I don’t know what to do.

Hi Ashleigh,

Thanks for your question.

First of all, I don’t know if you made you’re coming out to your best friend and your surrounding, but if you want to say it just ask yourself if you are ready to do it. Further, it’s important to clarify if the other opinions are important to you, because when I read your question I think that you really want to know what other people think about you or your friend or your future girlfriend. So don’t worry about that if you feel good in your life and your body. If you feel that it’s essential for you to tell someone that you love your best friend go ahead and I think that you should talk about it to someone you can trust. It is important to think about what you really expect from your best friend and perhaps go. Should approach her about this but only if you feel ready to do so. Finally, I think that the best way for you is to go with your feelings and your desires. Make a decision about if you want to talk about it or not with someone you know. Go at your rythm, it can take the time you want.

Thanks, best wishes,
